SKINCARE: Surge of Life

I find the word "surge" a bit eerie to describe a Facial Spray. When I read surge I imagine waterfalls. :p

Like I've mentioned in this blog, I've been experiencing weird skin moments due to the changing season. Because of that, I'm very thankful to have this Clinique Facial Spray gifted by my friend Krystal. My skin feels tragically flaky despite the wet season. Funny, you would think because my environment's a bit wetter than the usual, my skin should feel hydrated. But no.

Please listen/watch this video.

Rain is such a beautiful thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a sunshine girl; but rain is just so, emotional. Rain is inspiring. I guess, rain fits a crying soul. When the heavens itself is mourning, melancholic souls bask in the majestic transfer of life.

I wish I can say I'm feeling a bit under the weather, just to match the enchanting sprouts of magic from up above BUT I'm... I'm happy. I can say, relatively I'm happy. I do have moments of deep sadness. Sometimes, I mistake myself to be in a depressive mood. But at the end of the day, I'm at peace. I'm happy because I'm in my center. It's my seclusion. I tried my best. Whatever I stood/stand to lose, whatever I have lost, I can find peace in it. I did my best. My my my my my my my my my my best.

So let me focus, not on what's lost but on what I have gained. Of course, I gained wisdom, spirit and strength. But right now, let me dwell on something physical that I have gained. God forbid, it ain't weight. I received a new book from www.blink.com.ph. Like them on Facebook now!

Divergent by Veronica Roth* is a new Young Adult series to hit the shelves of our tropic shores. It is so intriguing and I can't wait to read more from it. I have browsed through the pages and I appreciate the tone of the pages that spoke to me. I am so excited also because I practiced my "ask the book" ritual with Divergent and the result was astounding.

I asked the book What should I do with my situation now?

The book said, it's important to protect people.

I completely agree.
Life is about opening yourself up to people, and being vulnerable. Vulnerabilities are beautiful. Those who toy with people's insecurities are monsters of course; but never lose hope. Always open yourself up to chances. Sometimes, chances are all we have.

Speaking of chances, a new tea house just opened at the mall near us. I don't think they're officially opened already because they are yet to secure proper air conditioning, wi-fi (yes it should be a requirement of cafes!) and POS yesterday; but I've been to their lovely little store and I love their Black Forest Tea! I love cherries. Mwa mwa mwa mwa mwa mwa mwa mwa mwa (Listen to the song to get that!) Imagine, if I judged them too quickly, I wouldn't have discovered that they have such a yummy tea drink! :D

So let me end this with a simple anecdote--kinda related to skin care, but with deeper meaning (for me). What you give yourself is what you get to share with others. If you take care of yourself, you would be given more opportunities to take care of other people. If you value yourself, the more you learn how important it is to also value people.

Never take yourself for granted. Never let anything take you for granted.

  1. The Clinique surge spray looks really interesting. I've been looking for a good facial mist because my skin is always so dry. Is that Wuthering Heights I see in your photo? :D That book has been on my "to read" list for the longest but I never get around to it!

  2. How do you center yourself? I need help with that. I really love the rain, things cool down.

Sometimes right outside my house there a bunch of neighborhood kids screaming and yelling and I pray a huge rainstorm would come pouring down to shut them up and make them go play inside! LOL!
