EVENT: Me is a Happy Keds X Independence Day Party

I am a very chummy person; and as much as chumminess has its share negative connotations, I'm a very positive girl. I'm all about happiness and excitement... just like Keds! Let me share with you some pictures from an afternoon of fun, good music and hippie great company at Keds X Status Magazine party! Read more after the jump!

Everybody came in dressed in hippie-chic. We were welcomed by beats care of DJs Angelo Mendez, DJ Euric and Hollywood’s very own DJ Fashen. Photo by Klay Tan

I always have a blast when I'm up in the Skye.

I intentionally didn't comb my hair for the event! LOL I was like, okay. How to be hippie? Have messy uncombed hair (to keep my natural curls) and keep 'em brows thick. :p

It was a wet afternoon but like I always say, it's summer all year round in the Philippines! :) There were water guns, beach balls and a lot of happy campers at the event. What I also love the most was the overflowing Magnum ice cream! If there's anything I love about the rainy season... it's the perfect weather for ice cream! (Does that make me weird?)
With my shy friend. :)

Besides launching Keds as the happy shoe-buddy for our footsies, Keds also launched a very fruitful partnership with Haribon foundation, an eco-centric non-profit organization that care for the environment with a strong heart. Keds auctioned off shoes especially designed by CJ de Silva, Soleil Ignacio, Danika Navarro and Julius Sebastian with all the proceeds going to Haribon Foundation.

Haribon Foundation was also present to make everyone feel sunshine-y as they sold seedlings, encouraging everyone to fill the earth with more greenery

Here are some pics I got to take before the silent auction started. I realized I missed taking a close-up shot of one of the fours shoes auctioned off, sorry!

Keds is definitely helping make the world a more beautiful place one shoe at a time. :) This is my favorite design.

All in all, it was a very successful party and I can't wait to enjoy more of these lively gigs. Thanks a lot Dani Keds for having me join your FUN event.

Next up... Independence Day concert! If there's one thing we Filipinos should be happy about, it's our freedom. In celebration of 114 years of independence, the heart of Manila has a lot of free events that you might want to check out. All roads would lead to the Quirino Grandstand where street parties, cultural shows and rock concerts would be open for the public enjoyment.
FREE Rock Concert para sa mamamayang Pilipino!

What to expect:
The morning and afternoon will see performances by the MMDA, PNP, PCG and PA bands, exhibitions by the PNA, PMC-DBT, PAF, fire fighters and even a skydiving act by the AFP--THIS I WANNA SEE. The Sandigan ng Kalayaan will include a static display in designated areas around Rizal Park.

In the evening, things will heat up thanks to an incredible multi-region cultural dance drama musicale called Luzviminda, composed of three parts. In the Luzon segment entitled “Lupain ng Ginto’t Bulaklak”, among the many delights anticipated are folk dances by the Sining Bulakenyo & Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe, and a kundiman and OPM medley by MMCO with music notables Rachelle Gerodias (soprano), Ervin Lumauag (tenor), Clarissa Ocampo (mezzo soprano), Andrew Fernando (tenor), Isay Alvarez (vocalist) and Bo Cerrudo (vocalist). There will also be a dance-drama synthesis by the Philippine Stagers Foundation, performances by Halili Cruz Ballet and Ballet Philippines, a hip-hop dance session by Next to Innocence, and musical treats from Noel Cbangon and the Baao Children’s Choir.

In the Visayas segment “Lupa ng Araw, ng Luwalhati’t Pagsinta”, the Philippine Stagers Foundation will hold another exciting show, followed by a medley of folk music by the Kabayao Family Quintet of Iloilo, fold dances by the PNU Kislap Sining & Philippine Baranggay Folk Dance Troupe. The Visayas portion will wrap up on a strong note with MMCO with Pilita Corrales, Elizabeth Ramsey and Pinky Marquez performing various Visayan songs, and a street dance exhibition by Tribu Pan-ay, Dinagyang Foundation.

Entitled “Lupang Hinirang”, the Mindanao segment will feature various indigenous chants and songs by the Waway Saway Mebuyan Peace Project, Kalilang (a celebration through dance) of the Integrated Performing Arts Guild & Sining Kambayoka Ensemble, musical shows by Joey Ayata at ang Bagong Lumad Band, and a contemporary dance session by Astig Pinoy of Gingoog City. This will be brought to a close with patriotic songs done by MMCo with Erik Santos & Star Magic artists, and a musical number by Dulce. Fireworks will then ensue. Afterwards, it will be the people’s turn to sing, dance and revel in the glory of being Filipino.

The evening will officially end at 10pm with “Malayang Pilipino”, a concert organized by Rock Ed Philippines. It will feature popular bands like Sandwich, Pupil, Kamikazee, The Dawn, Radioactive Sago Project, Itchyworms and Pedicab, along with Paolo Santos, Gloc-9 and Rico Blanco—a spectacular finish to a fantastic night.
