Few weeks ago I received sample mail from Fountain Cosmetics*. They sent me some samples of their products which you would see below. Since I only got to try samples, I can't really give you a full-pledged review of the Fountain Cosmetics products; but notable are the Actual Moisture, Cleansing Balm and Skin Exfoliant. :)

Actual Moisture is ideal for people who like me has combination to oily skin. Living in an unforgiving climate doesn't help address my problems with oil production so I'm pleased that Actual Moisture locks in moisture for my skin without causing breakouts or any irritation despite my skin's hyperactivity.

The Cleansing Balm on the other hand is a fragrance-free face cleanser that effectively rids the face of dirt and makeup without stripping the skin off with its much needed natural oils. Refreshing and thorough, this AHA infused cleansing balm also aims to smoothen the skin with continued use.

Last but not the least among my notable picks from Fountain Cosmetics is the Skin Exfoliant. A hardworking exfoliator that helps prevent buildup of dirt and dead skin cells on the surface making skin look more radiant and glowing.

Who is Fountain Cosmetics?

Last Christmas, my little sister gifted me with the second book to the Lauren Kate's Fallen series. Book two is entitled Torment. Before anything else, let us talk about what the word Torment means. Surely, for a book to be named after just one word, Lauren must have had some recipe brewing from within. (Read my thoughts on book one, Fallen by Lauren Kate, here)

Living in Asia grants some perks in terms of beauty products. As much as I do lament how inaccessible some western brand's releases are, I rejoice how perfectly easy it is for me to reach out and grab products that are formulated best for my Asian skin.

Among of the Asian wonders of beauty that inevitably took the world by storm, is the BB cream (BB for Blemish Balm). The BB sensation is so widespread that even top US and European brands take their own spin at it--but you can't beat the originals. The best BB creams are still the ones homegrown in Asia--Korea, Japan--and the Philippines would not dare be left behind.

Before the world failed to end, my friends from HBC sent me their newest cosmetic release, that is the HBC San San BB Cream. This BB cream is vitamin enriched and is loaded with an amplified SPF 43 so it is geared toward skin nourishment and protection ad you, well, prettify.

My love for all things beauty sparked early in my life. If I remember it correctly, I started being hooked on beauty because of the onset of lip and cheek tints (yes, I blame The Body Shop). Remember when their lip and cheek tints came in this precious glass roller bottle? The one that actually breaks if you drop it hehe --that little baby started everything to me.

The evolution however, is a whole different animal.

Speaking of animal, let me share with you Charm Makeup Brush's limited edition Sonia makeup brush set. I love Charm makeup brushes, and I have quite a lot already because they are affordable yet of top quality. If you're just starting out in beauty (or with your collection), I would recommend you take a dip into Sophie's world. Sophie, such a sweet and dear friend of mine, is the woman behind the beautiful Charm brushes. If it weren't for her, can you just imagine how difficult it would be for us beauty mavens to acquire quality beauty tools? I sure can't.

When you come to love a product, you are bound to face that dreadful day when you realize, you're out of it. Few weeks ago, that's exactly the predicament I was on. I was out there, enjoying my beloved Pevonia Dry Oil when, shake as I might, there was none left in the bottle. I immediately tweeted Pevonia Philippines to inquire where it is best for me to order a fresh new bottle when my dear friends from PevoniaPH generously responded that they'd send me an oil instead!

Initially, they were supposed to send me the Dry Oil I requested but when they offered me to try something new, of course I jumped on that boat instead. I'm always the type who's willing to try new products, especially because I have no qualms about trying anything from Pevonia since theirs is a brand that I trust entirely. The new product they wanted me to enjoy was this Micro-Emulsion Anti-Stress massage oil*.

Here's a closer look at the Massage Oil's unique consistency

This sight, this very daunting pile of dirty makeup brushes, is a reality I face almost every week. It's no secret that I love beauty tools. More than actual makeup, tools excite me. I love seeing them in their different forms, shape, texture, and purpose. I enjoy collecting tools for convenience also because I have a habit of not using soiled tools. Because of that habit, I end up with a lot of brushes to clean come weekend.

Last Sunday, I paid all my dues. Or at least as far as I can recall, all the dues that I have to pay. I hate having arrears of any sort and I'm quite a happy bee to have closed all my financial responsibilities before the year ends! Surely, there is still a hint of dread that with the remaining 14 days of 2012, I gain a new liability, but my heart is set in keeping this clean slate for a clean slate's exactly what I need this year.

An hour AFTER I celebrated preparing the money to pay my dues, I lost the money--quite carelessly acually. I put smurf's to shame. Anyway, so yes, I still have a few days of 2012 to achieve that clean slate. I hope I can. I really do.
Lately, I've been finding myself getting curiouser and curiouser about the intricasies of life and human behavior. :)

Red is the color of the season, fact.

But not everyone can wear that bold color on an everyday basis... so enter a red lipstick I recently discovered. I'm talking about Guerlain's Shine Automatique Pour Troubler* lipstick--a classic red color that doesn't bleed and is perfect for gentle holidays.

Do you use makeup or skincare samples? I do! Especially when I travel around, I usually rely on my skincare samples because they are more economic than travel-sized bottles and tubes. But beyond an on-the-go reason, I love using samples because it gives me the chance to road test the product before committing to a purchase. All the more if we're talking about expensive products! Money doesn't grow on trees so we ladies better be sure with what we invest our hard-earned money on!

It's 12.12.12 today! It reminds me of 08.08.08 which I fondly called "destiny day"! Today's pretty much the last chance in our lifetime to have the month, day of the month and year be of the same number, and considering that I'm the type of person who believes in all this destiny pizazz, I am determined to make great things happen--TODAY.

Speaking of great things, let me take the pleasure of sharing with you an event you shouldn't miss out on, first thing this coming 2013: EndDanger, an art and music fest fundraiser for Save the Philippine Seas Pawikan Watchers program which shall open on January 19, 2013 at one of my favorite sentimental places, Conspiracy Garden Cafe, Visayas Ave. Quezon City.

EndDanger will feature mixed media artworks from the group Artists for Nature and performances from Flying Ipis, Extrapolation, and other music bands. This music and art feast is one extraordinary way to amplify the call for attention to the growing problem of animal endangerment in the Philippines. We should all get involved anyway, we are talking about our very own tropical paradise--a beautiful and diverse marine life that we can all take pride on globally.
The Philippines, although gifted with a rich and biologically diverse ecosystem, from lush forests to a vibrant marine life, have natural resources significantly dwindling over time. Animal species, in particular, are under increasing threat from habitat destruction, pollution and commercial exploitation. Sadly, many are now in the verge of extinction.

The artists and organizers behind EndDanger seek to raise funds for the monitoring of one of the Philippines’ most threatened species, the pawikan. All proceeds from the event’s ticket sales will go to the Pawikan Watchers training program, which Save Philippine Seas (SPS)—an independent movement that fights abuse of our aquatic resources through legal discourse and social media—launched in cooperation with Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB).

Pawikan Watchers aims to educate volunteers from different parts of the Philippines on the ecology and biology of, and PAWB-approved guidelines for, handling sea turtles. Apart from raising funds, Artists for Nature sees the exhibit as an opportunity to broaden public awareness of the urgent need to preserve our wildlife.

Knowing that we can be part of the better change, of that much-needed parade of inspired spirits of change, is a huge deal to me--and I want all of you to be part of something greater too. With the year ending, and a new beginning peeking through the panes, I hope you all consider joining this fundraising activity and celebrate the beauty around us. Surrounding oneself with beauty that is beyond skin deep--in this sense, it's marine deep--empowers my heart to continue believing in the goodness of people, and the talent that is out there. We are all qualified heroes, all we need to do is take that one grand step and decide to be one. Hope to see you all at the event!

The art exhibit will run up to February 8. Conspiracy Garden Café is located at 59 Visayas Avenue, Project 6, Quezon City. :)

For opening night tickets (P120 with Free Beer already!) or more information, please contact Wendi Garcia at +639162742859 or artistsfornature@gmail.com. Like them on Facebook www.facebook.com/artistsfornature and follow them on Twitter www.twitter.com/artists4nature for updates.

So now, let me ask you. What is your 2013 advocacy? You must have one! Each year is a year that calls upon us to make a difference! Share with me what you're passionate about/going to be passionate about this coming year, please.

As we grow in time, we are expected to realize ourselves, our potentials, our resilience and our graciousness for all the things that life would throw our way. Surely, there are instances when the realizations or discoveries we make would disappoint us; however, the other end of the rainbow holds the instances where we surprise ourselves. Where we become, what we didn't really plan to become, but nonetheless be thankful for once the last note fades in time. Today, let me share with you a memoir I have read recently.
