HAUL: Nyx Round Lipsticks Nude Edition

Like if you love lipsticks

My new Nyx round lipsticks arrived yesterday. Ever since I found this reasonable online reseller of Nyx, suffice it to say, I was fixated. Yes, I ordered two batches of Nyx lipsticks. As much as I'm not really impressed by them, I get so curious with their color promises and I am fascinated by how the lipsticks are named so uniquely; hence I buy. This time around, I only bought four (with the addition of two blush sticks). Last time, I bought eight which you can read about here.

Let me indulge you with swatches. Jump!

My four lipsticks are Orange Soda, Frappucino, Pumpkin Pie and Rea.

Although Nyx cosmetics are not chemical-free (they are loaded with chemicals, shamefully speaking); they give me a bit of hope for they are cruelty-free at the very least. :) Here's how the lipsticks fare on my arm. If last time I got quite a collection of RED LIPSTICKS, this time around, I stuck with the nudes. With the gift of comparison, I think I'm in such state where I'm more fond of nudes.

But you know me. I trust lip swatches more those swatches on arm so here goes, in order of my preference with my favorite shade as no.1 :)

1. Pumpkin Pie - I am so fond of this lip color. It looks so naturally sweet on the lips.

2. Frappucino - if you find yourself unable to fathom wearing a hardcore red lipstick shade, Frappucino is a nice option. It's a creamy reddish brown color that glides on the lips smoothly and blends with the natural red tint of your lips to a perfect natural coral red.

3. Orange Soda - since I saw Michelle Phan use this on one of her recent makeup videos I knew I wanted to give it a shot. I love peachy colors for almost anything, lips, blush, clothes, polish. However, this particular shade just can't be a top favorite because it's a bit challenging to work with. I think this is best used with a lip liner because it really defies the natural tint of the lips turning it bright and ultimately nude-peach. This of course leaves a good and bad impression. The good part is you get such a unique pigment. The bad part is, if you have dark lips or for my case, the outline of my lips are a bit dark, it may be a problem to blend the lip color seamlessly to your puckers.

4. Rea - nothing wrong with finding a great nude shade but this comes off a bit sad nude. I think, if you wear this alone, it would look gloomy on the face. This typer of nude should always be paired with great eyes. I liked Summer Love from this set more.

Ah, looking at those lipsticks make me want... lip gloss! :p Here's a collage I created to inspire myself to work harder this coming August. Man, was July amazing. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful Blog Birthday! If you haven't yet, please join my birthday giveaway.

You know how they say in fashion, "thou can never have enough jeans." I think in beauty, what people commonly can't have enough of are lippies (lipsticks, lip balms, lip conditioners, lip gloss, lip plumps, lip shine, etc) Do correct me if I'm wrong; but first, hope my lippie wishlist below convince you that I'm right.

PS. To those afraid of online shopping, just to give you an idea, buying from Digital Traincase has been quite convenient for me. I hope they improve their packaging though because the items arrived looking like this (photo below). fortunately, nothing happened to the products this time but last time, one of the lipsticks I got was broken so I was disappointed with that.

I don't know if it's something to be alarmed about too but the lipsticks were moist when they arrived. It was weird. Perhaps it's because of the heat the products were subjected to during transit? They're not moist anymore though, now that I keep them in normal room temperature.

How about you? Any online shopping experience you would like to share--good or bad experiences are welcome! Leave me your story in the comments. :)

  1. I recently bought NYX lipsticks (Eros, Fire, and Snow White), too, from Digital Traincase. They did arrive kind of warm. Good thing I had them delivered in the office where it's air conditioned.

So far, I haven't had any bad experience buying online and I hope it stays that way. It's a good idea to read the comments left by buyers and to do "research" (like reading blogs) on which online stores have good products, service, etc.

  3. I don't like nude nudes; they make me look washed out. I like Frapuccino; I have something like that in my lipstick collection. It gives my lips a wash of color while still looking quite au naturel. Thanks for this! I enjoy reading haul posts.

  9. I have frappucino! :)

Anyway, I have shopped at Digital Traincase din before; but I ordered Charm Brushes. Hehe. I prefer buying NYX Round lippies pag bazaars. Super creamy kasi nila kaya pag nainitan, alam na. Minsan nga parang gusto kong i-de-pot sila para mas convenient. Tutal, most of the time, Lip Brush na rin ginagamit ko to use it.

  10. What kind of chemicals are in these? I can see where you could have lots of lipsticks, they don't stay on so you have to keep reapplying... I have yet to find a lipstick I like.

  11. The one colour family I don't really have much of is nudes. I guess it's because I'm too big a fan of bright coloured/berry lips. I think frappucino looks good, though.

  13. The ultimate bright lippie, for me, is MAC's Morange...which I don't have (mahal eh!) but my make-up artist friend had let me try it. It's <3

I quite like NYX Black Label in Citrine. It's got that look at me orange I love. I like the creamy texture too!
