How to Be Your Self

Hello Sunshine! Before I became a Filipina beauty blogger. I was a wild child--still am! Every now and then, I visit my OLD personal Facebook account and check out some of my crazy photos! My old FB account was primarily full of early college knick knacks, and I decided to create a new account before I graduated because I had too many FB games going on! Anyway, every time I go through that page, I'm revisited by old feelings that more often than not leave me thankful and humbled by how life turns out to be. Now, the past few weeks have been crazy, my mom got hospitalized and need blood transfusion, and it will only get crazier, I am scheduled for a major operation very soon, but all in all, I think I'm still very lucky. WHY, you might ask. Well, because no matter how things turn out, I'm always free to be myself.

Do you feel free to Be Your Self?

If I can tell my 19-year-old self a few things, I'd tell her this:

1. It gets better.

I know it's cliche, but it does. As long as you keep your head up high and stand your ground--don't forget fortitude and integrity--it'll be alright. I'm not a very religious person but I have faith in people, in myself, in the goodness that is out there.

2. Be kind. Be kind especially when it gets very hard to practice kindness.

Kindness goes a long way. Sometimes, it's the hope that you need. Other times, it's the hope that can save other people from their own darkness.

3. Don't lose yourself.

Keep your true nature at the core of your decisions. There will be times when it can be very tempting to forget who you are just so you can fit in, or even shine; but you know what, the best sparkle is within you. Who you are is beautiful. What you make out of who you are is your legacy. Keep on being you.

Which brings me to sharing a cosmetic brand that is close to heart with today's topic, BYS, short for Be Your Self. It's an Australian makeup brand that entered Philippine shores last year, and has quickly began a go-to makeup source by beauty junkies and even professional makeup artists.

BYS makeup recently launched a few Professional-grade products that are great for every day use. Their new products include a fantastic foundation primer, illuminator, and micro-finish powder. their illumiinator and primer remind me a lot of how Nars primers are packaged, and I think that's pretty cool. On the other hand, I've briefly tested out the micro-finish powder, and I must say, it feels more velvety on the skin than my Shiseido translucent powder; which I think is very good!

Which BYS product should I review first? I'd love to involve your thoughts in the process!

Don't forget to leave me a comment on what you'd tell your younger self too!
