It's hard to argue with the fact that a smokey eye is one of the most timeless make-up techniques one should master. Smokeys can come in an array of colors! Of course, the perfect smokey can require the skill of a warrior. You are bound to battle against fall outs anyway, so it's really important to have the patience and proper understanding on how to do it. BUT, is it really that intimidating? Not always. As what the title of this post suggests, yes, you can get a smokey eye in a swipe by ensuring that: the product you're using is pigmented and easy to blend even with just your fingers, and the product you'd use does not cause horrid fall-outs.

Fortunately, spring 2012 answered that very woe. Recently I received some love swag from my friend Eileen. I was sooo happy! She even got me treats from the Spring releases of Maybelline and L'oreal! Sadly, Philippines is almost always late when it comes to these collections! It is to my understanding that these brands release collections differently per region. Understandably because each brand focuses on their region's needs... but then again, you can't be a make-up geek and say you won't need these--especially if you're weak in the smokey eye department.

Let's start with Maybelline's 24-hr Color Tattoo collection.

Colors everywhere! Maybelline's 24-hr Color Tattoo is a burst of hues! I love how crazy and how classic the collection's color choices are. Although I do share the sentiment, "Who wears make-up for 24-hrs?", I love it still.

I was given Tough as Taupe. It's a creamy milk chocolate color on the jar but upon application, it shows a grayish earth color. I'll be sharing a swatch later. Oh, let's not forget how wonderfully pigmented and easy to blend Color Tattoo is. Applied using your clean fingers, you can easily have a quick-and-easy date-worthy smokey eye in a jiffy.

It's perfectly sealed! I love it. The packaging's very "collector-friendly". Because it has a glass jar container, you can easily find the color from your stash.

Moving forward, let's swoon over L'oreal Color Infallible Eyeshadow collection.

If you love using mineral pigments (because of how pigmented they are), you're going to love the convenience the Color Infallible offers. Just look at those colors! My eyes are twinkling! No denying, I'm super stuck staring at the royal violet (shadow from the upper right row) and the pink piece (middle shadow from the bottom row).

I got to try the green shadow. It's called Golden Sage. Would you agree with me when I say I think the packaging's fancy?

It reminds me of Bvlgari products! Note however how different the engraving on the actual product compared to the ad I saw featuring the entire collection! Weird!

The L'oreal Color Infallible shadows have a complicated formulation. It looks powder and if you dip your finger or your brush on it, it is indeed in a loose powder format BUT upon application, you'd completely feel how much it resembles a cream shadow! It has a very delightful satin finish too. It's not outrageously shimmery or glittery like most mineral pigments. It has an electric feel to it.

To give you a sneak, here's one swipe of both products!

Are these available in your country, cause it's not in the Philippines! What are your thoughts?

My laptop is still broken so I'm sorry if I haven't been as active (especially in visiting your pages--to those blogs who hear from me often!).

Since I'm off work today (still not feeling well), I figured to share with you my thoughts on Nature Republic Petit Cherry Rouge lipstick in G02.  The Petit Cherry Rouge line has four variants: Gloss, High Color, Moisture and Creamy. I bought two kinds, a Glossy and a High Color one! G02 is from the glossy range (G for Glossy).

I got it because it reminded me of the Joey Tribbiani's Lipstick commercial! GAWD I love Friends!

It doesn't work like a lipstick. It works like a lip gloss, weird.

I also upgraded my product score card to make it more understandable as I think just giving number rates can be vague. Anyway, since my laptop died and my editable format is on that laptop, I have no choice but to revise! I hope you like my upgraded score card!

Sadly, this particular product completely failed me! I have another shade from the range too and at least with that shade it's safe to say it gets better! I got the products from my Nature Republic Festival Mall shopping visit. I'm not as satisfied with the branch. I hope they have a wider variety of colors and I hope the displays get more organized and neater!

Anyway, expect another Nature Republic Petit Cherry Rouge Lipstick review soon!
Because of Joey's commercial, I'm inspired to share a weird one too.Just found this on youtube, a related video form the Friends clip!

Have a blast!

I am a person who doesn't like proclaiming favorites... but oh my, there's no denying.. I love chicken!

I love fried chicken!

So no one should be surprised that I also love Max's. Hello? Have you tried Max's Fried chicken? They're super good. I love them with banana catsup and worcestershire (saywhutt) sauce. I love how soft the meat is yet the skin is crispy. Oh yes, chicken skin. You can't eat Max's fried chicken and then think I'm going to diet, no to chicken skin! That's just wrong! Let's not insult the chickens who died to fulfill our palates!

So I'm happy I was gifted by Max's some GCs last Christmas. I am a very easy to please person. Damn, free chicken is definitely included among my list of "things that make me happy".

I shared the blessing at the office. Nothing keeps bonds strong than good food, yes?

So anyway, I'm talking a whole lot about fried chicken because I just rememberes I haven't shared with you the great news I received I think a week ago! Here.
The brand that has captured the hearts of Filipinos for more than sixty years has rolled out the biggest chicken take-out treat ever.!
The promo is available at all Max's Restaurants nationwide, from Feb. 20 to Mar. 31! So uhm, I know a lot of you are doing the fish thing this lent, but seriously, this is a treat I will not let pass!

Nom Nom Nom

If you're following me on twitter then perhaps you read through my emotionally disturbed tweets earlier this evening! I'm so sorry for that. As much as I'm a very positive person by default, I do have my moments when my brightness fades out.

Oh well, nothing lifts up my spirit as effectively as shiny things do. I figured, it's time to rekindle an old flame . I took out my old Elianto glitter polish and layered it above one of my favorite go-to green polishes from Caronia. Of course, nothing beats rekindling the past than mating it with the future; that's why after layering my old flame on top of my go-to polish, I layered one of my newest babies from Kleancolor on top of it.
From L-R: Elianto, Kleancolor, Caronia
I love using Caronia polishes as my base color cause they're usually opaque enough even with just one layer of the product. Because anything that would make my polish feel lighter despite my heavy layering of glitter is welcome, Caronia polishes are usually among my first choices when it comes to choosing a base color. I am using Caronia On the Go as a base polish for this look.

My base color is a powder moss type of green and it's one of my favorite go-to shades because it has quite a unique tone to it. Tonight, since I'm feeling a bit blue, I layered a sparkling golden green glitter polish on top of it. I was immediately thrilled by how unique the color turned out to be. It made me think of mermaids! I am sad Elianto closed all stores in the Philippines :( They have such amazing nail colors! I am using Elianto Aspen Green. Come to think of it, is Elianto still open anywhere else in the world, or did the brand completely died?

Last but definitely not the least, I topped my polish with a layer of a very apt nail color to end February with, Kleancolor My Valentine. The polish is loaded with pink glitter (which is hardly visible because I think Aspen Green glitter was far too overwhelmingly pretty to compete with!) and some yellow, white and blue metallic flakes; however this little sparklers are a bit sparser than you would expect judging by how amazing they look in the bottle. You kinda have to fish them out which was troubling for me so I didn't bother. Anyway, I only used My Valentine to add that final kiss.

Now I shall go to sleep, and relax. My laptop is officially broken and I don't know how to fix it nor replace it so it's kinda refreshing to be blogging on our family computer (LOL doesn't that make it sound too old school?) Hope things turn out well sooner.

Hope my nail polish brightened up your day! What do you think?

Boy did I have a hard time removing glitter polish tonight! My bed ended up covered with so much silver sparkle, I may just dream of unicorns in my sleep. Let's say goodbye to my previous polish. To view it, please visit this link.

Finding the perfect foundation is key to creating the perfect look. We girls got to cover the bases -- and by mean cover I mean hide those flaws, and bases I mean prep the skin. So given the chance to dip into the Matte-Finish Liquid Foundations by San-San, here's my story.

The shades are limited. There are only four shades and I'm sorry I have only three! From left, that's 1, 3 and 4. Personally, I don't like when make-up is just coded. I prefer names so maybe a little more creativity on that aspect. It's so much easier to remember names anyway. Packaging is super though. I really like it! It's in a matte-finish (how apt, glass bottle). These foundations are enriched with vitamins, like all San San cosmetics.

It came with a wand applicator. Essentially I don't believe the wand was made to apply the product directly on the face. It is best used to just scoop the product off the bottle. Think of it like a spoon. :) If you love spooning... JK!

Having an applicator that works like a spoon has some pros and cons. The pros is it's not messy. The cons is it can be unhygienic and it may lead to wastage. Actually, wastage is not solely the wand's fault; but the bottles. It's harder to "lick the bottle clean" because, well, you can't! Unlike if the foundation is in a tube, you can simply cut the tube in half and scoop out product. :) But that's just me. Since the foundations are very affordable, I am not worried about the idea of wastage so hah!

Hopefully the photos above illustrated how fluid the consistency of the product is. With that, you're assured it's not sticky. It is actually well-absorbed by the skin and it doesn't cake. We hate cakey foundations. Me likes my cake on a plate, not my face.

Here are swatches.

Since I'm amazed by how #3 disappeared on my skin! I swatched it again!
And again...

And now I'm convinced it's my perfect match!

Sorry for the sudden change in skin tone. No, I'm no alien. I just notice that when against bright sun light, my skin shows a little redness. Is that what you call undertone? Understand?  I applied the matte foundation generously on my cheeks and believe me not, I'm floored myself by how smooth my cheeks looked like! Yes, I'm already wearing a light layer of powder blush, still. It looks poreless!

Then outdoor I realized the reason. The matte finish liquid foundation seem to work like a light diffusing foundation too. I mean, look! My face is eating light!

Roughly six hours after (sorry, indoor lighting now so back to my non-red skintone), my forehead is a bit shiny already but perhaps that's because I applied the foundation lightly on the area. On my cheeks, where I applied the foundation generously, it's still mega-matte. Loves it. (Notice how my lipstick's gone! LOL)

With that, I conclude that the Matte finish liquid foundation is effective in keeping the face shine-free; just remember to use enough product!

How about you? How do you mattify?

REVIEW: San San Matte Finish Liquid Foundation

Finding the perfect foundation is key to creating the perfect look. We girls got to cover the bases -- and by mean cover I mean hide ...

Don't judge but I love Hannah Montana. I guess every girl my generation is a Disney girl one way or another, and Hannah Montana is a series that truly caught my attention while growing up. It was funny and it had catchy songs. I also love the blonde wig (and Lily's wigs) to boot. Then add the fact that I'm very close to my little sister, and we both love singing and playing pretend, you should be surprised I'm not worshipping the show!

So imagine my delight when I found out there's a polish named Hannah Pinktana! It's by Wet n Wild. :) I was introduced to Wet n Wild polishes by The Sneakerette. She got me Sagreena the Teeneage Witch. Funny names right?! :D Check it out here.

Anyway, fast forward to yesterday, I received my very own Hannah Pinktana! I was having a rough day so before sleeping, I removed my super lovely Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell polish and replaced it with a pink one. Let's take one last look on my holo nails.

Then let's welcome my new Platinum Pink nails. Unfortunately, Hannah Pinktana is sheer so I layered some of my current favorite silver glitter polish on it (photo below shows one layer of HP as base, then the silver),

then layered more pink and so on and so forth and voila. A nice mix of pink and silver--a platinum pink! It's so easy because Hannah Pinktana dries so fast. It wasn't messy to layer with--which I really liked. I'm a very clumsy girl so anything that can help me not make a mess is welcome to my life!

As you can see, the color's not that true to the bottle but I do like its glitter effect, especially when layered thrice. It's very easy to layer with also because of it's applicator. The brush is a breeze to work with. It didn't leave streaks--formula wasn't a "streaker" too.

Now some outdoor shots (taken just this morning before I headed off to work).
