I love coffee. I don't mean it like "OMG let's have coffee"-love; I mean I love coffee. I find coffee to be my most inspiring, most evocative and most overwhelming elixir. But to be more specific, I love Starbucks Coffee. It started as a bandwagon, and between odds, I'm sure this love took one hell of a beating on my wallet and debit account; but at the end of the day, nothing beats my Starbucks "overpriced" coffee--well, that is if you can put a price on inspiration.

Few weeks ago I just completed my Starbucks 2012 planner sticker card. It was quite a challenge because you should know there really isn't any near Starbucks branch where I live (although recent updates just confirmed 2012 would unfold better days). Despite that, with the help of my family (who really has no choice but to give in to my whining) I brought home my 2012 planner (and is 3 stickers away to a second one, as of writing).

Starbucks planners have a way of getting to me. Ever since I had my first, it almost became a tradition to sip my way to a great journal. There was only, I believe, one year since then that I didn't get a planner, and that was when I didn't like the design--found it to not work for me in any way. Fortunately, the next few designs, especially the recent ones, just got better and better.

This is the first Starbucks Planner (design) I got. Remember fond memories?
The classiest jacket design, if you ask me.

It was SO HEAVY but after I used the planner up, I found great use of the leather jacket. I used it as a Cattleya filler holder. I was still in college then and you know, lazy students like me don't like carrying heavy notebooks around, so yes I just used fillers. Ironically, I was willing to carry my Starbs planner everywhere! :p

My most memorable planner (the one I didn't tear up nor throw away) was Starbucks 2008! It was a start of a new era for Starbucks planners, or at least a foot in the door. It resolved the "weight issues" of their previous planner, yet it kept the leather jacket in tact. I loved its Christmas garter the most!
I got to feature this planner, check it out here: LINK
The year I didn't avail of a Starbucks planner was... hm, 2009? I just didn't like it at all! The great thing about these batch of journals is Starbucks way of giving its loyal following the chance to "personalize" their planners.

Fast forward to the future, here are some of the past designs of the legendary Starbucks planners. I just grabbed them online because I don't have my college planners anymore. I was such an emotional wreck then LOL and every end of year, I tear my planner up--to make use of the unused leaves as scratch papers--mind you. :)

Starbucks Planner 2010 (I got the coffee bean design, cause I found the shot of coffee beans to be schmexxie).
Remember those Dark Cherry Mochas?

Starbucks Planner 2011 (I got the Maroon one, for more UP pride).

And now of course we have 2012. Since the 2009 set, we lucky coffee fools got to choose a planner that would fit our personality. They started with three choices, now they have five!

I got the Poplar one. The 2012 set is by far Starbucks' best because it is eco-friendly, of reasonable size and weight, and the notebook paper is just superb! What doesn't work for me is the pouch, it just doesn't have enough body at all, can't put my things in it without expecting a mess--you can't expect me to store my planner it it either cause it's such a hassle!

Here's some planner-vanity shots. Let you go through the process of opening the box.

Here's the best part, how it would welcome you...

Couldn't agree more!

Closing a year with a trusted planner is just as important, if not more (since you'd be planner next year with it), as starting a year with one! Cheers to all and hope everyone enjoy their last 2011 and their first 2012!

COMING SOON... Gold's Gym experience!
I purchased classes from Gold's Gym Inter-Continental Hotel Manila--my favorite gym so far, because well New Year's  is a great reason to do something that isn't part of my previous year's routine! Anyone I'd be seeing around?
I was even at Toby's Sports Filinvest yesterday. Toby's Sports branches used to be soooo cluttered, I'm very pleased by how they are working on looking organized and more of like a store than my brother's room!

The shelves and the aisles are still crowded, but I think proper organization is key. Toby's is getting there. Arena branches are easier to maneuver yourself in, hope their other satellite branches follow. On a brighter note, found some cool stuff! These Headwares are very LOVINGSUNSHINE-ish.
Just Php240!
More designs available..

More fitness accessories available.. I love the neon pink jelly rope the most! It was just Php 150!
Biggest Loser tools!
I love the bands!!!
I used to be really good in hula-hooping, not I bet I won't last a minute! I want to re-learn it!
After, I went out for a quick Quickly drink. I love Quickly :) Can't help but be reminded of my High Schcool days. I love how not much has changed... although it won't hurt if their one serving of pudding isn't that microscopic.

Oh well, the happy thought is, my camera's so great! I don't have to edit my pics at all!!! :)
Oops, shakey.
I love this photo the most. Says a lot, I think.

This story is pretty much the most memorable human interest story of 2011 for me. I don't get to watch a lot of TV, more to news, but one lucky evening, news was on and the story on Lola Aurelia finding Lolo Luis was on broadcast. I cried immediately. I was so moved by the story. The Journalist side of me had my thumbs up en point. The civilian that I am was just blown away by such loving expression.

Last Sunday we heard mass at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish at Tagaytay, like we always do every Christmas. Unfortunately, the homily was B.S. I don't mean to defame the church but some priests are just B.S. I think priesthood is a job as it is a mission/calling, and to have someone "preach" unprepared is just ugh, what a waste of holy time.

Basically, what the homily was supposed to emphasize was the will part of love. Love is an act of will. We choose to love, stuff like that. In my opinion, Love is a responsibility. I just watched The Little Prince the movie the first time yesternight so in a way I am still hung up, but beyond my Little Prince hangover, love is a responsibility because to love is to give yourself, and our borrowed life is far too limited to give to waste.

So here I am trying to make sense of the holiday. It's our final giveaway week and I seek your support this last time, let me shower you some of my love. Along with my friends from HBC, allow us to extend Christmas, a few days over time.

When we were kids, mom and dad will tell us to be good most of the time so that when Christmas comes, Santa will leave something for us. We did well in this challenge and had so much fun going back to the year that was. The Holidays call for moments of being together with old friends from college or high school, videoke nights with officemates and reunions with loved ones. Each experience has a unique story to be told and we can’t wait to hear yours.

To end the Christmas week, we’re giving you 4 of our best bath soaps from Body Recipe. You might wonder where is the beauty element here? It’s in the spirit of GIVING the gift of beauty. Thank you for being with HBC in the whole 8 Weeks to a Happy Beautiful Christmas. Now, on to the final week’s question:

What is a happy and beautiful Christmas for you?
(Answer the question then post a photo of your best Christmas on your Facebook, tag my FB page, tag HBC page and include the Giveaway Photo below. Don't forget to make sure your post shows on my fan page so I can count your entry in.). Each photo entry is equivalent to 5 pts

I love make-up brushes, so it's pretty natural that I love Charm make-up brushes. They perform really well, are within budget, are cute and generally durable. I only had problems with Charm a number of times due to a little shedding and bleeding here and there, but those are for the earlier Charm brush sets that I owned (specifically shedding and bleeding of my Charm Travel Pro V.2 stippling brush which I have given up on already due to frustration). The newer breed of Charm brushes are different though. They're so much better, and I just have to say the latest set Charm released, the Vegan brush set, is complete cuteness. To begin with, they now come in a prettttty box.

I've had the set for a while now and I have been using it, especially the powder brush heavily. I hate to say I lost (but am still hoping to find) my lip brush. It came separately due to a minor packing problem, and because it came separately, I washed it separately. Sadly, the next thing I know, I couldn't find them anymore. So yes, I'm living with a crippled brush set. I hope it shows up somehow... I feel really sad to have not tried the lip brush from said line. :(

So, let's go back to good vibes. Hard not to when you have something this bright to look at. The name speaks for itself. The new Charm Vegan brush range comes in a very Pretty in Pink brush roll. Check it out.

Similar to the Charm Travel Pro V.3 (read here for my review), I love the new brush roll because it has a sling which makes it easier to carry around. Of course having it in such bright, bold, loud and festive pink color doesn't hurt too! Don't forget to check out how classy the Charm logo is embedded on the brush roll. I love it!

Its pin perfection bleeds right into the insides of the brush roll. Here are photos to show you the reason why I can't help but enjoy blissful beauty when I use my Charm Vegan set.

Notice its unique pockets? Those pockets were a pleasant surprise for me. When I ordered this set, I just had in mind "I want the new Charm set, to add to my collection of top-performing brushes." Little did I know that it'd come in a brush roll that is as functional as the tools it hold! In fact, I didn't even  bother check what the brush set includes, I just saw on my Facebook feed that Charm released a new set of brushes and immediately I texted Sophie to order. That's how much I trust Charm brushes to deliver.

Enough with the brush roll, let me share with you my general experience with the set's cruelty-free brushes. Again, I'm missing a brush because when the set arrived, it didn't have a lip brush :( but Sophie immediately sent me my missing item, however, with Murphy's Law at its best, the lip brushes (yes, two. Both my pocket brush and my Vegan set lip brushes are missing. I'm sincerely heartbroken.)

Initial reaction when I first laid out the brush set before me, I gasped for air. I believe I can compare it to how girls gasp for air in movies when they are proposed to. I was perpetually stunned by how pretty the set was. Like an Emerald Cut diamond, the set was a definite "Yes!"

As you can see, the brushes have an "Alpine snow top" feel to it. The set is made of ultra-soft synthetic fibers making them cruelty-free. Vegan brushes are guilt-free beauty tools that any eco-thusiast such as I can easily be smitten with.

* Powder Brush
* Blush/ Contour Brush
* Foundation Brush
* Big Eyeshadow / Concealer Brush
* Small Eyeshadow / Precise Concealer Brush
* Crease Blending Brush
* Pencil Point Smudger Brush
* Classic Blending Brush
* Shading Brush
* Angled Eyeshadow Brush
* Angled Eyeliner Brush
* Pointed Eyeliner Brush
* Brow Spoolie
* Precise Lip Brush with Cover

Animal friendly and luxurious, the Pretty in Pink brush set is perfect for those who hate how animal haired brushes tend to scratch the skin. Those who are extra-sensitive can find comfort in this range because they are very soft, indeed, yet still powerful enough to pick-up and dispense product properly.

My favorite, as I have hinted above, is the Powder Brush that came with this set.
Such a beauty.
I love using dense Powder brushes for my face because I usually use BB cream as my foundation. Since it's wet, I always have to go through the step of having to set my make-up and the Powder brush that the Pretty in Pink set offers is everything I hoped for in a Powder brush. I can fall asleep using it. It's so soft, luxuriously dense and it's also low maintenance. I don't see it getting stained or catching dust too easily. A spritz of Brush Cleanser and its good to go.

Forever soft, sturdy and low maintenance, who needs persuasion? First time I used the Pretty in Pink brush range, I was a goner. For someone who loves collection and playing with make-up, Pretty in Pink is a sure win.

Another favorite would have to be the Pointed Eyeliner brush from the Pretty in Pink line. Fortunately for you, if you're not keen on purchasing the entire set but are interested in trying out a brush or two from this range, you must try the Pretty in Pink Pointed Eyeliner brush. It's not fancy-angled, but wow it works better than my other angled eyeliner brushes. It's so fine and is sturdy enough to give you firm and precision when applying eyeliner--and you know how the slightest extra mm of a mistake can be disastrous when it comes to creating eye perfection.

The Pointed Eyeliner brush is just Php 200 if you buy it alone. Ah yes, you can purchase per set or per brush, celebration!

The set is just Php 2,500, with FREE SHIPPING promo c/o Beauty and Minerals multiply site. However, if you want to again just choose a brush or two, my top five must-try brushes from the Pretty in Pink range are (in order of importance):  Pretty in Pink Powder Brush, Pointed Eyeliner Brush, Classic Blending Brush (very essential!), Pencil Point Smudger Brush (I use this a lot as a crease brush too) and the Pretty in Pink Big Eyeshadow/Concealer Brush (because of its dual purpose).

On a different note, I have been playing with the idea of graduate school again. The Pretty in Pink line was a bit of a culprit because it made me think of a beloved Pink Blondie, Elle Woods. Seriously, next to Barbie, Pink is definitely defined by Ms. Woods.

Thinking of her made me remind myself of how much I want to go back in school so in spirit of upholding the topic, check out the infographic describing the nitty gritty of justice. It's a pretty cute infographic, and I can't help but shrug off the idea that it would be more understandable for me if only I fill my mind with knowledge.

I'm reminded to ask, are you pro-divorce? Philippines, I believe, is the only Catholic country in the world that does not allow divorce. If given a chance, will you support a system that would allow divorce? Hm, check out this great article to help you decide.
