I was asked to talk about concealers. Admittedly, I am not a concealer junkie. I try my best to work with my flaws than to hide them. But of course, light-to-medium coverage is still advisable. So let's talk.

Why should you use concealers?
From the name itself, concealers help hide skin imperfections like dark circles, pimples, bruises, soreness and even uneven skin tone. Concealers are also used for better coverage and blending of make-up base, primer or foundation. Personally, I prefer using concealer before applying foundation when I'm using powder foundation and otherwise when using liquid.

Based on my experience, cream concealers are a so much easier to blend after using a BB cream--hence my BB cream fixation.

Anyway, I shared the photo above because I want to insert a short rave moment about the concealer I used in doing the look I did for this post.

Vitamin-enriched make-up are great because instead of damaging the skin, it helps nourish it. But make-up is still make-up okay, so at the end of the day, don't forget to clean up!

In the photo above I used San San Age Defense Concealer in 01. It is the yellowest yellow concealer I've ever tried, so at first I was hesitant about it. However, what pow it had over my other concealers is it's skin-loving formulation. Not only does it has SPF15, it also has Vitamins A, C and E!! Pretty great huh?

As you can see, the concealer gave a pretty good performance in perfecting my problem areas: dark circles and soreness at the sides of the nose.

So basically use concealers because who wouldn't want flawless skin. :)

What color of concealer should you use?
Concealers come in various shades to fit different skin tones, yes, but other than shades they also come in different hues: yellow, lavender and green.

Yellow: use yellow concealers to hide imperfections like dark circles, light bruises and minor redness on the skin. Yellow concealers are most commonly used and comes in different shades. Try to find one that is a shade lighter than your skin tone so you can easily conceal those skin imperfections.

Lavender: use lavender concealers to hide yellowish imperfections like that of scars and bruises. I hope none of you would ever need to use a lavender concealer especially on the face cause I would find it difficult to imagine what happened why you ended up bruised like that. Please be careful everyone.

Green: green is my favorite color, and I'm happy I don't need green concealers! :) You may use green concealers to hide pimples, especially the sore ones. Targeted to neutralize the redness of the skin, green concealers are great to be used prior a yellow concealer for fuller coverage.

Most recommended concealer palette? Make-up For Ever eye cream concealer palette. Some make-up artists swear by MUFE's eye cream concealer palette. I haven't tried them yet since I'm not really a concealer junkie. I'm very happy with my ELF Tone Correcting Concealer. :)

 How to use a concealer?
Concealers can be pretty tricky to use. They can be cakey and if worse comes to worst, they can emphasize your flaws instead of hiding them!

I prefer concealers that come in a tube compared to concealers that come in a pot. Liquid concealers like ELF Tone Correcting Concealer is a favorite too. I use it on days when I don't need coverage that bad. It comes with a wand that helps me limit the concealer I put on. Concealers should always be used sparingly. Less is more, as they say, applies best in using concealers.

For onlly Php 129!

You may opt to use concealer brushes in applying concealers especially for areas that require precision, like applying concealers up to the corner of your eyes. Personally I warm up the concealer on my skin first (so it's easier to spread and blend... best to do this if you're using concealers from a palette as they're usually harder to spread and blend than concealers that are tubed), so I use my fingers. then I use a brush to more properly blend and spread out the product on my face. Then, I use a latex sponge to remove brush marks.

It is best to start off with flawless skin before using dark shades on the eyes. That's the best reason why you should start practicing with your concealer now, so you can sport smoldering smokey eyes this season of parties too!

For the eyes: am using dark blue shades from my Dollface Avant-Garde eyeshadow palette. For the make-up base: am using San San Liquid Base Make-Up in Beige, it is the perfect partner for the concealer I featured above. For the lips: am using San San Lipstick 01. No setting powder.
The blush I used.
Work day tom, let's do this!

#5 Almost Perfect (San San Concealer)

I was asked to talk about concealers. Admittedly, I am not a concealer junkie. I try my best to work with my flaws than to hide them. But o...
Today I woke up feeling inspired and musical! :) Although I am depressingly turned off by all of Taylor Swift's live performances, I still adore her style and love her music. I love how emo and bitter she is, and how she puts it all on the table as a lovely song. I truly believe, she's going to be one of the music world's greats... in a way, I am sorry to say this, but I hope she gets loads of heartbreaks cause that's when she writes the most amazing songs! Not to confuse you though, I really love her music. All so catchy!

Anyway, just last night I saw her performance on AMA 2010. Wow did having super straight locks make her look so matured! If you haven't seen the performance yet, check out the video below. It's a mash-up of her single Back to December from the Speak Now album and the song Apologize. Cute, awkward performance though. I still think she's not good in singing live... pero I want to watch her perform here in Manila for the sake of it! haha!

Her new look inspired me! Especially her eyes. Check out the picture below. And because her mash-up performance also inspired me, I combined her AMA 2010 look with Mariah Carey's look on her Obsessed music video--which I am truly obsessed with. Proof here! Hope you like the look I created. Please try it! It's a really nice look to wear on a family reunion--should you want to show your tito-tita that you're a lady na! Good luck and enjoy! :)

Sexy well-defined eyes make any hair-cut the bomb!
For this look I'm featuring San San Cosmetics. San San is exclusively sold at HBC outlets. Check them out! As you would see on the pictures to be posted below, they have great products! My personal favorites and recommendations are San San Eyeshadow Trio 02 which I used for this look and San San Long Lash Waterproof Mascara in Black which my mom had previously commented on positively, thrice! She always mistook me of wearing fake lashes on the three occasions that I was road testing San San's superb Long Lash Mascara!

I really am hands down  to San San Long Lash Waterproof Mascara.

To achieve this look, I framed my eyes using San San Eyebrow Pencil 03. I think this is the first Holiday Look I'm posting with a decent brow! I just recently had my brows perfectly threaded at the salon. Ladies, try your best to maintain your brows because properly shaped brows can really make a huge difference!

I primed my eyes using E.L.F. eye primer to achieve an outburst of color using my eye shadows. With primed eyes, I lined my eyes from end to end, like an Egyptian princess, using San San Kohl Eyeliner in Black. Lining the eyes that way makes a very dramatic and bold stare. :)

As you've seen in the photo before this, the palette consists of three shades. I used the first shade from the top as the base and tapped it all over my lids. It's a nice shimmery gold shade for a base. Followed by the middle shade which I sweeped on the upper creases of my eyes, just below the brow bone, to leave a deep-set shadow on my eyes. Finally, I used the darkest gold shade at the bottom of the palette and applied it at the V of my eye, which is the outermost corner of your lids and is creased when you smile. :) So smile. :)

To make my eyes pop with color, I used a defined crease brush and added a brighter gold shade from my Dollface Avant-Garde palette on the first eye crease near my lash line. I used a specific brush for this because I don't want to the bright color to stray. As I've emphasized in my first Holiday Look feature, precision is important. :) I hardly use the foam brushes that come with my make-up for this very reason. If you could, try to invest in a good set of brushes. Will feature my latest make-up brush investment as soon as it arrives. I ordered online. :)

Back to the eyes, after applying color, I curled my lashes and applied my mascara. Not to mislead anyone, I am using fake lashes on the photo BUT I still would like to comment that using San San's Long Lash Waterproof Mascara alone is a great way to achieve a subtle "false lashes" look. :) I'm only using half a falsie in the photo because I don't want exaggerated long lashes for my family reunion holiday look. :)
Because this look for is pegged for a family reunion I designed it to be very subtle and opted to stick to earth tones. For the lips I used San San Lipstick in 03 shade. It's very nice. Check out my swatch below.

I had to brighten it a little because of the shadow-y photo I took. But the swatch is pretty much closest to the real thing. For your reference, ay very office, I also uploaded a video at the bottom of this post. You are invited to check it out. :)
Would you believe I wasn't using foundation the whole time?! haha! See, I literally just woke up and thought of doing a look! It was supposed to just be a practice session for the REAL thing but because the outcome was really nice, I used my supposed practice photos and went on and blogged ahead. Anyway, I don't have perfect skin I admit that so to correct my mistake of not priming my face before make-up, I used Allue Pressed Powder in Natural Beauty to mattify my just-woke-up-shiny-face. hehe  Wow! Surprisingly, it was soooo effective!

I keep on encountering an error in uploading the photo; hence the lines, sorry.

Contrary to my previous comment on Allue Cosmetics packaging, please see Holiday Look of the Day #2, I really liked the packaging for the Allue Pressed Powder. It's practically in a hard cardboard case which I found so unique and ingenious! Perfect for clumsy people like me who keeps on breaking things. :D I like that the cover, when flipped over, comes with a nice mirror! So handy! :D
Wow emote.
Anyway check out how contouring added a little angular shape on my face. :) Used an angled blush brush for this. The blush I used is Allue Pretty Cheeks in Desert Rose. Another photo below!
BTW, the lashes I'm using is from Saizen! I want to go back to Saizen for falsies. I don't have anymore. I used them all up! :( The lash glue I use is from HBC. Very sturdy glue, perfect for makulit people like me. I liked it more than the lash glue I got from The Face Shop.
So... what do you think?

Ready to beso-beso la familia?
Please take time to watch my short video. Sang with heart! :D Plus so you could see the make-up in all it's living glory! :)
Here's a link to the video if it won't load here. Feel free to add me on Facebook. :) Okay ba yung make-up brush/makeshift-mic ko? :D Please comment on my singing! All commenters will have a chance of winning a Foot Spa Package! Comment or like the video HERE.

Of course there's a remix!

I wanna know, why you so obsessed with me? :)

Only now did I know that this song is backed by a Mariah / Nick Cannon vs Eminem controversy! Interesting. I love how artists use their art to express everything! Just like how Taylor Swift came up with Speak Now album which is by the way, super great!

Most of the English-translated Japanese Novels I have read so far are filled with mysticism, romanticism and of course, a rich vibe of Japanese neo-culture. Nonami Asa's Now You're One of Us novel is my first taste of Japanese, thriller If I may say.

I really liked the novel because it left me hanging page after page. The narration had this very solid sense of what is happening and what can be expected yet the novel leaves the reader expecting different scenes and events ahead of each chapter. I really liked how the book invited me to the protagonist's psyche, and how as the story evolved and the character got deeper into what is going on around her, I too, as the reader, got so involved with the story's gradual revelation.

I recommend the book for readers who would like to go beyond just reading a novel. Now You're One of Us is easily an experience!

I look forward to spending Christmas at Tagaytay, where it's outrageously cold and windy!
I am so happy to have the pleasure to experience the luxurious line of cosmetics by Guerlain. To those who have browsed through my recent posts, you would have stumbled upon my rave blog about Guerlain's Gold infused make-up primer, L'or (Php 3,850). As promised, here's a look showcasing L'or's elusive radiance.

First I applied L'or generously on my face. Usually two pumps can be easily spread out to cover the entire face. Personally, I use three drops of L'or. Two for my first layers of application and one to even out the dew on my skin's surface. I focus on my undereyes, lids and the sides of my nose because those are the problem areas of a lady who doesn't get enough zzz.

Please read my review of L'or here to know more of the benefits of using the product! Be amazed!

It's a dewy primer. You don't have to wait for L'or to dry before applying your favorite foundation, powder or concealer if you have imperfections to correct.

After applying my primer, I used Guerlain Les Voilletes Mineral Foundation (Php 2,798) to achieve a healthy matte make-up base. I followed up with Guerlain Precious Light (Php 2,299), a rejuvenating illuminator to extend the healthy radiance using L'or and a Mineral Foundation gave me.

For the eyes:

I used Ellana Mineral eyeshadow at the outer corner of my lids to add depth, and L'oreal Open Eyes eyeshadow white shimmer to achieve a doe-eyed look.

Magnum waterproof mascara by Maybelline for my lashes.
I first lined my eyes using Guerlain Eyeliner Kohl (Php 1,250) in black. I like it a lot because the pencil is rather long so it's easy for me to hold and the pencil has a unique triangular shape to it's easy to handle when precisely defining my eyes. See photo below:

Because I'm into the healthy glow today, I brushed a light sweet peach-pink color on my cheeks, extending upward to my temples. Used Guerlain Blush 4 Eclats in Rosee du Printempes 04 (Php 2,450). It's a combination of four blush shades and it leaves a creamy pinch of color on the cheeks. :)

For the lips would you believe I'm just using a lip balm? Wearing Guerlain Kiss Kiss Baby 242 Lip Balm. I love how  much color it provides. It's like a lipstick already, with plus factors of hydration and SPF protection for the lips! The downside is it has a slight hint of waxy after-scent which I'm not a fan of. I don't like lipstick (worse, lip balms) that smell like lipsticks. Fortunately, it doesn't have a "lipstick taste", just the scent.

Smile. The extra brightening shimmer you see all-over my face is achieved by lightly sweeping face-brightening Guerlain Meteorites Pearls (Php 2,998) to set the make-up. Don't forget to use your favorite powder blush for this for you will find this last finishing step quite fun!

Happy brilliant holidays!

Have you ever wondered why some ladies have super smooth rosy glowing skin? No, let me rephrase that...

Have you ever felt jealous of other ladies who have super smooth rosy glowing skin? Well, we are in chorus. I myself am soo envious of people who have smooth soft-to-touch baby skin that I have long prayed for a product that could help me from my skin problems.

My theory:
I am such a happy person. I think anything makes me laugh. I have friends who complain or tease me of my "kababawan" but I can't help it! I just really smile and laugh so easily at almost anything! = laugh lines (potential wrinkles)
I call myself as the sunflower girl. I love the sun! I love summer! I don't necessarily love the beach, I just love the warmth of the sun. I love feeling it on my skin... even without sunscreen. = uneven skin tone

Go light on the foundation... in fact, skip it all together and just let your natural skin's glow, well, show.
Then I met L'oreal Paris' Base Magique. Few weeks ago I announced on this blog that I'm going to work on having a White Christmas using L'oreal White Perfect Whitening Day Cream. Two (almost) three weeks after day one, I am pleased to announce that life has never been as pleasant for me and my face! When I first tried Base Magique, I was floored by how it transformed my face into the perfect make-up canvass. The magic lies in the primer's velvety formulation that fills up the skin's imperfections (wrinkles, the like) leaving a smooth surface on your skin--perfect for make-up!

During lazy days (hint: di ba masarap mag oversleep ngayong pasko season kasi malamig?), I use Base Magique alone. With the help of my White Perfect Day Cream which has been super in effectively whitening my face, Base Magique has blended better on my skin and has left me with a rosier finish. All I need is my preferred lip shade for the day and I look fresh and blooming... parang in love lang. :p

Japanese Sakura Season
I was never the perfume girl and although I love make-up and would trade over ten pairs of jeans (though I don't have ten pairs of jeans at all!) for one skirt, I was never feminine enough to bother about my scent. I have my days when I smell so bad I can't even stand myself. I'm your typical laid-back chick. I take a bath, I sometimes brush my hair, I face the world and I let life happen. Of course I take a bath at night too, unless my day was too much I can't even be bothered to change my clothes.

Today I have a new perfume and I'm really excited about it! It's A Scent by Issey Miyake Eu de Parfum Florale the feminine version of A Scent by Issey Miyake. Following the name it is a floral fragrance with notes of jasmine, ylang-ylang, peony and galbanum. I'm happy to include this baby on my list of fragrances. I feel proud because for a person who don't normally use perfumes, I'm having a lot now. Please check out my list of favorite scents.

Well I think it's really lovely. The bottle is kinda heavy for an 80ml perfume but I really like the minimalist design.

This is my new scent. Now I have to figure out what mood calls for A Scent by Issey Miyake, Bloom by Estee Lauder Pleasures and Chance by Chanel which are the three bottles of perfumes I'm currently rotating.

How about you, what perfume do you currently use?

"I DO."
Sorry the photo didn't upload well.
Yesterday, I said I'll just buy one nail polish. Php33 lang naman ang Bobbie Nail Polish... but no. I ended up spending a thousand! Bought other accessories and a bag organizer pa kasi!

Here are some of the nail polish I got. I bought them because of their names. Reminds me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Boy, do I want that job.

Right now I'm sporting this. It's a Romantic French Manicure raw eh! Got me sold! haha! Check out the second photo for the how-to. It's really easy! Affordable too! For only Php86.

Among the extras I got is this cute cologne refill bottle. I am now using it as my cuticle remover spritzer. ♥

Like I mentioned earlier I also got a bag organizer BECAUSE I always bring so many things and I decided I should stop being a pouch lady (the lady who carries so many pouches inside a big bag). Hm, wait. I don't think I can ever be not that. haha! I love pouches and I love putting things in their proper designated places, OC-much?

Currently loving Estee Lauder scent. Happy that it's in Preview Nov 2010's Beauty Awards.

Di totoong ganyan kaluwag bag ko. For photo lang yan hahaha!
I promise to save up, soon! After I buy my make-up haul from Beauty and Minerals!!! :)
