Book to Basics #15 The Gift of Acabar by Og Mandino and Buddy Kaye

Have you read this book?
Miracles happen everyday. That's what I've been taught since a child. Each day someone is born and reborn as someone else (metaphorically speaking, should reincarnation be proven a myth someday). The challenge is how to be that miracle.

Frankly, I tried reading The Gift of Acabar a number of times, in vain. I always end up stopping or losing my momentum despite the book being a very thin one. Finally, just a few days ago, I finished the novel. Funny how after getting the hang of the story, I just can't seem to get how I found it so difficult to finish before. I don't know why in my previous attempts of reading The Gift of Acabar I get "lost in translation". How I ever found a story about how a boy makes a difference in the world boring, I would never know.

I recommend the book to people who feel like they're losing their life's luster. The Gift of Acabar is a perfect read for both the young and old (or young-at-heart). It is a story of hope, love and faith. It is an inspiring story and it will surely remind anyone who'd read it the importance of giving yourself value. I feel glad that I read the book especially at a time when I'm already keeping a book review website. I deeply share what the story successfully promotes. Passion.

Never lose fire.

I bought my copy of The Gift of Acabar (probably Php 100) at my favorite used book stall along AS Walk back in 1st Semester SY 2009-2010 when I was taking Spanish classes. (I miss UP.)
